Jan Dul, winner of the 2015 IEA Distinguished Service and the Hal Hendrick International Colleague Award

Jan Dul won the 2015 IEA Distinguished Service Award. This award recognizes his many contributions to the promotion, development and advancement of the IEA and the profession. His many years of service on council, the executive committee, and most recently, on the future of ergonomics task force are all emblematic of the kinds of contributions this award intends to honor. This coupled with the contributions he has made on strategic issues for the field and linking the IEA with other organizations and fields (e.g., EURAM) make this an even more appropriate award for him.
Jan Dul got this award at the IEA Triennial Congress in Melbourne in August 2015.

The Hal Hendrick International Colleague Award honours Jan for his outstandig contributions to the human factors and ergonomics field, which are far ranging and impactful. Although trained as a classical biomechanical ergonomist, he now specializes in the interaction between people and the technological and social-organizational environment. His outreach efforts spring from his belief that for ergonomics to have a real impact on society, we need to infiltrate other fields, not expect them to discover us. He has consulted with more than 50 companies to educate them on how properly designed and managed work environments that can facilitate employee performance and well being.
Dr. Dul is also an active thought leader on the world stage, and his spearheading of an international  effort led to the publication in 2012 'a strategy for human factors and ergonomics'. Dul is a true pioneer who permeates other fields and discilpines and plants the seeds of human factors and ergonomics, which is sure to yield productive outputs for our profession for years to come.
